 Lorien in Action

Perhaps it was Lorien’s upbringing that has best prepared her for her current life as a professional mountain bike racer. She grew up near a North Idaho community of 200 and lived atop a mountain (seriously) without running water, electricity, or a telephone! Each day the trip to the school bus stop involved walking, skiing, sledding, or riding her horse. It was the return trip home (the climb up the mountain) that helped form Lorien into the gritty competitor she is today.

Not unlike many teenagers especially ones growing up in the Idaho backcountry, Lorien began to stray from the outdoors in pursuit of other things. It wasn’t long before her competitive instincts were reawakened with her introduction to mountain biking eighteen years ago. The flame burns on, as she continues to embrace the sport with much the same enthusiasm as the first time out. For many years Lorien raced regularly in road and mountain bike races and in the present is more often than not atop the leader board in Super D, cyclocross and cross country events.

Lorien holds a Masters of Special Education and is presently a teacher in Boise Idaho. She has a unique education in self-defense so feel free to test her. It is with great fortune that she met her husband Darren (also a member of Team Wild Rockies) whose lifestyle and love for the outdoors is complementary.
